Amato is about the diversity of polyamorous models in the Quebec portrait. Three unique and interrelated stories are staged through performing arts.

Amato

It´s about the Tatiany life as an artist, who, due to her lack of her neurodiversity knowledge, deals many social barriers, which aggravats her health, but she finds through art and knowledge a chance to overcome it.

THE ART & THE WAY

The documentary shows the involvement of the LGBTQI + community in the 2nd July 2019 Parade, Bahia Independence Day, at times focusing on the balizas’ performances, at times focusing on the audience that’s there to watch those performances. Over 16 years, they gather at the Rosário’s Church region, at Avenida Sete de Setembro, Salvador-BA-BRA, and get thrilled with the baliza’s performances. All of this makes this place be called “The Sassy Territory”. With the special guest Jean Wyllys, Human Rights Ativist, the film has two central characters, Diana Souza and Gabriel Vilasboas.

Balizando 2nd July

In one Eastern Washington city, there is a long history of segregation. Through the decades, the Tri-Cities has existed as a farm region, a plutonium producer for WWII, and a sundown town dubbed the “Birmingham of Washington” by the NAACP. While racial segregation is no longer overt, today, it silently separates the odd amalgamation of Ph.D. scientists, migrant farmworkers, and white nationalists in the region. By exploring her city's history, one woman gains a further understanding of identity by piecing together the messy history before her.

The Bridge

En camino is a journey from Mexico City to Mérida. It collects the testimonies of many women and activists. Through their experiences and emotions we address a fundamental question: what does it mean to be a woman in Mexico? The answer is plural and takes us to the themes of economic exploitation; human trafficking; lack of institutional protection; inequality in economic, educational, sexual and reproductive rights; the cultural meaning of the word love; sexual and psychological violence. If these issues are exacerbated in number and intensity in Mexico - among the countries with the highest rate of feminicides and number one in the world for child sexual abuse - they resonate in the rest of the world because of the link that welds capitalism and patriarchy in history. Outside of colonial history, which complicates and aggravates the socio-political situation of Latin American women, the roots are common: the world is still macho, and women are, all too often, pawns of male power. In the texture of their faces, the colours of Mexico, its landscapes, its skies and clouds - because looking at the sky is the fundamental gesture to open new horizons - the women tell us the struggle for the right to be able to say "no".

EN CAMINO - México, machismo and clouds

Holy Slut, a young graffiti woman who was sexually abused at the age of 13, wanders alone through the locked-down streets of Albi, feverishly scribbling fragments of her story on walls around the city as she attempts to disentangle the knotted threads of her existence and free herself from a past that weighs heavily on her present.

The film 'Lonesome' by Justice Khor is a documentary that explores the intersection of queerness and isolation. Militant Mother

While we were attentive towards mainstream society, marginalized women had to strive it out alone. ‘Ora’ attempts to explore our age-old societal mindset whereby they have been outcast from the mainstream in every walks of their lives. COVID RESPONSE ~ A Himalayan story, is a documentary on the ongoing global pandemic and how it affects a remote Himalayan state in India. The film is a critical look at the various ways in which people’s suffering- mental, physical and financial, have been worsened by the novel coronavirus.

The 25-minute documentary celebrates Himachal Pradesh’s self-reliance and resilience. Viewers will get to witness incredible stories of people on the frontline of this global health crisis- from doctors, nurses to social health volunteers. The film touches upon the migrant crisis in India through the eyes of Aditi, a young environmental activist who turned to labour rights overnight. Artists like Meenakshi- program director of Dharamshala’s community radio, worked everyday throughout India’s historic lockdown to make sure the people were informed on the latest government guidelines, during one of the world’s most uncertain times. The documentary also highlights the work of rural development organisations like CORD, that have worked tirelessly for decades to uplift women and empower villages - work that was very handy during this pandemic.

The objective of the film is to highlight loopholes in India’s healthcare and administrative systems while celebrating front-line workers.

Throughout America, women organized tea parties for meetings and fundraisers to support the suffrage movement. The Woman’s Suffrage Party sold ceylon, young hyson, gunpowder, and oolong tea under their charitable brand “Equality Tea.” Yet the history of tea is steeped in inequality, driven by colonialism, war, and appropriation. In her short film, Equality Tea, Sunwoo brews tea while drawing parallels between the fraught histories of the tea trade and the suffrage movement.
Written, directed, animated, and narrated by Jaime Sunwoo. Original score by Matt Chilton, based on a 1895 suffragist anthem by Augusta Gray Gunn. Commissioned by Park Avenue Armory and The Laundromat Project for 100 Years | 100 Women.

Inside me

JADE is a short film taken from our 'Stories Untold' project which is a series of short films featuring London-based migrants. After almost a year in development, and an extensive casting process, we selected six diverse stories to help spread a positive message and challenge the current rhetoric surrounding migration in a post-Brexit Britain.

In our ever politically unhinged world we chat, moan, groan and celebrate our lives with likeminded people. People who have lived similar lives and share similar ambitions, successes and adversities. It seems that talking to people with the same views, and similar stories to our own, gives us the self-validation in today's world.
But, in a post-Brexit Britain, we think it's imperative that we start to share stories outside of our own bubbles. We want to remind people that whoever we are, wherever we've come from, we are all navigating the world and trying to get by as best we can. We are all human.

These collection of short films will speak to London migrants from all different social, political and economic backgrounds and ask them to tell us their story with their own words.

“We knew they were building something in the parking lot outside. We felt the house shaking and saw how the door frame and the stairwell burst.” In a vibrant short film, Astrid Askberger tells the story of how it feels to get a new wall ten meters from her window.

The film depicts how people become tiles in a larger game, but also how they with their own initiatives can find ways to relate to the rules of the game. In a poetic view of an individual event, something larger is caught, about us as human beings, the system and a sneaky notion of urban infill projects.
